Dareechah-e-Nigaarish

Maulana Roomi's immortal "Song of Awakened Man" (Persian refrain: Door Mashow ... door mashow) excerpt was used by Mohsen Makhmalbaf in his Art Movie The Silence (Sokoot; 1998) which tells a story from the point of view of a blind boy, Khorshaid, whose blindness has heightened his sense of hearing ... Khorshaid loves to hear music, poetry, the sounds of Nature like running water in a stream, the buzzing of bees, etc. A beautiful movie and and beautiful song from the classical 13th Century Soofi poet Roomi (also spelt Rumi).
