Khawaja Ghulam Mohiuddin Pervaiz (1930-2011), popularly known as Khawaja Pervaiz was a Pakistani songwriter who penned many block buster hit Punjabi and Urdu songs for Pakistani movies.Khawaja Pervaiz was born into a Kashmiri family in Amritsar, British India in 1930, emigrated to Pakistan in 1947 and graduated with a B.A. degree from Dayal Singh College, Lahore in 1954. Khawaja Pervez's first film, as a lyricist, was Diljeet Mirza's Rawaj in 1965 in Pakistan. He got a big breakthrough from the song "Tum hee ho mehboob meray" in film Aina (1966) sung by Irene Parveen and Masood Rana with music composed by M. Ashraf.
His Pakistani Punjabi song "Do Dil Ik Dooje Kolon Door ho gaye" was sung by East Pakistani singer Roona Laila in 1964 in Lahore after Roona Laila had come over to West Pakistan to try her luck in Lahore's movie industry or Lollywood. Her native language was Bengali so in order to sing this Punjabi song, she was coached in the Punjabi language accent by Baba G. A. Chishti.
Baba G. A. Chishti (Ghulam Ahmad Chishti; 1905-1994) was one of the most talented, creative and prolific Music Composers of the Pakistani Film Industry right from its start. He started his career in 1949 in Lahore where he composed six songs in one day for the Pakistani Punjabi movie Pheray. This was followed by songs for Pattan 1955, Sassi (1954) and Noukar (1955) and then super-hit films like Dulla Bhatti (1956) and Yakke Wali (1957). He introduced many singers into the Pakistani movie industry over his career spanning 3 decades. The singers he introduced included Nazir Begum, Naseem Begum, Saleem Raza, Masood Rana, Zubaida Khanum and Mala.
